Gas Monitor

GuardIAN gas monitoring delivers continuous, real-time insight into underground atmospheric conditions. Purpose-built for high-risk mining environments, the system provides automated alerts, monitoring and reporting of gas trends live, and complete integration with the GuardIAN Intelligence Network. The result? Safer re-entry processes, faster decision-making and fewer delays across your operation.

The range of gas monitoring options available are vast and all integrate with the GuardIAN Intelligence Network so you have full oversight over your site.

Site and Chamber Nodes

Gas Nodes provide continuous, real-time insight into atmospheric conditions across the entire underground environment. Each node houses advanced Aura-FX sensor technology capable of monitoring multiple gases simultaneously, along with temperature and environmental data. As nodes communicate with one another and the surface, control room teams gain a live, accurate picture of underground conditions – essential for re-entry after blasting, hazard identification, and day-to-day operational decision-making. Automated visual alerts on nearby nodes immediately notify personnel of unsafe gas levels, enabling rapid evacuation, route changes or stand-down decisions without relying solely on radio communication.

When installed on the outside of a refuge chamber, Gas Nodes extend this real-time intelligence directly to the people who need it most in an emergency. Personnel sheltering inside can view external gas levels via the tablet inside the chamber, receiving an instant “all clear” notification once the surrounding environment becomes safe. This eliminates lengthy waits and helps teams return to work sooner while maintaining safety assurance. For surface-based supervisors, chamber-mounted Gas Nodes deliver ongoing visibility of conditions at each chamber location, supporting faster, more informed decision-making. Together, site-wide and chamber-specific nodes create a connected, data-rich monitoring system that keeps personnel safe and improves operational efficiency across the entire mine.

Key features

  • Fixed gas sensors built into every GuardIAN Node across your site and on your chambers
  • Up to four sensors supported on each node
  • Visual alerts for unsafe conditions
  • Temperature monitoring included

Handheld gas monitoring

Our Aura-PT Handheld Gas Monitor gives underground personnel the ability to continuously track up to six gases in real time, ensuring constant awareness of their immediate surroundings. Designed for tough mining conditions, the device provides fast visual and vibration alarms when dangerous levels are detected, allowing workers to respond instantly before a situation escalates. Its compact, lightweight design makes it easy to carry during inspections, re-entry drives and routine underground travel, providing a reliable first line of defence against changing atmospheric conditions.

What sets the Aura-PT apart is its seamless integration with the GuardIAN Intelligence Network. As soon as the monitor detects elevated gas levels, it automatically transmits readings to the nearest GuardIAN Node, feeding live data to the control room and alerting nearby personnel through illuminated node indicators. This connection not only enhances situational awareness but also strengthens emergency response, enabling supervisors to pinpoint hazards and coordinate actions with confidence. Whether used as a redundancy tool during decline re-entry or as part of daily operational checks, the Aura-PT delivers accuracy, visibility and smarter communication site-wide.

Key features

  • Monitors up to 6 gases simultaneously
  • Visual and vibration alarms
  • Automatically uploads readings to the GuardIAN Intelligence Network via any nearby Node
  • Can trigger alerts across the underground network
  • Ideal redundancy tool during re-entry or inspections

Sensor options available

O₂, CO, CO₂, H₂S, NH₃, NO, NO₂, SO₂, Cl₂, Ambient, and more.

Why it matters

  • Safer, faster decision-making. Your personnel can view live gas levels anywhere, significantly reducing risk during blast re-entry or emergency scenarios.
  • Reduced downtime. Automated “safe to enter” notifications eliminate guesswork and long surface waits.
  • Data you can trust. Sensor data is instantly transmitted to surface operations, improving reporting, compliance and incident investigation.
  • Improved emergency response. Alerts on surrounding Nodes ensure underground workers immediately know when an area becomes unsafe.
